In 1983 Sue Young took over the responsibility of teaching Shudokan karatedo to a small group of students in Ellensburg, WA. This young lady, at the time, a physical education major at Central Washington University, embarked on a entrepreneurial journey which lasted over thirty years.
After her passing, a group of her students re-organized the the school as Central Washington School of Karate, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to studying and teaching art of karatedo as it was handed down from Kanken Toyama. It is currently operated and maintained by the charter board of directors, Lisa Hall Saucier, Zane Kinney, Duncan Hobbs, and Al Miller.
CWSK is a member school of the American Shudokan Association, under the direction of Morris Mack hanshi and the hombu dojo (home school), located in Yakima, WA. All certificates of rank are awarded to students by and at the discretion of Mack hanshi.
